Class of 1970 reunion dinner
Spin me back down the years and the days of my youth.
Draw the lace and black curtains and shut out the whole truth.
Spin me down the long ages: let them sing the song.
— ‘Thick As A Brick’, Jethro Tull
There was food, there was wine, there was music from the late sixties and there was a hell of a lot of catching up to do when 15 of the Whyalla Technical High School class of 1970 got together at Vileroy restaurant in Adelaide last weekend. It was the latest of a series of get togethers over the last few years and it was proposed on the night to hold an annual gathering in the lead up to the 50th anniversary in 2020 to maximise the numbers for that milestone. Chris Brougham and myself were the only ones to take up Diana Rice’s offer of a guided bush walk through Chambers Gully on the Sunday morning after the night before, but we did run across Kylie Koala and Kenny Kangaroo on the way so we weren’t too lonely. Thanks to everyone for coming and pssst … spread the word. It will be on again next October.
